# How It Works

This section explains the core concepts behind the \[Project Name] Browser Extension.

## Passive Bandwidth / IP Sharing

When active, the extension securely connects your device to the \[Project Name] DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network). It allows validated requests from our network to be routed through your internet connection, utilizing your IP address.

* **What is shared?** Primarily, your IP address is used as a gateway for web requests. Only a small amount of your bandwidth is typically consumed.
* **Is it passive?** Yes, it runs in the background requiring no active input from you after setup.

## Web Data Collection (The Use Case)

The bandwidth you share is used primarily for **web scraping** – the automated collection of **publicly available data** from websites. This data powers various legitimate business needs:

* **Market Research:** Understanding trends, pricing, and competition.
* **AI Model Training:** Gathering diverse datasets to train artificial intelligence systems.
* **Search Engine Optimization (SEO):** Analyzing website rankings and content.
* **Brand Monitoring:** Tracking online mentions and reviews.

**Our Commitment:** We focus on ethical data collection from public sources only. We employ techniques to avoid impacting website performance and respect website policies where possible. See [Security & Privacy](/documentation/quick-links/security-privacy.md) for more.

## Decentralized Network (DePIN)

Instead of relying on expensive, easily detectable datacenter IPs, \[Project Name] uses a distributed network of real residential IPs provided by users like you. This creates a more robust, resilient, and realistic network for data collection tasks.

## Reward Mechanism

You are compensated for contributing your resources to the network. Key points:

* Earnings are influenced by factors like your connection uptime, the demand for bandwidth in your region, and the successful completion of data tasks via your connection. \[Add more specific factors if known].
* Rewards are paid out periodically (see [Rewards & Payouts](broken://pages/o9JGSYvrNCoKIA8r32CI)) in a combination of:
  * **USDC:** A stablecoin pegged to the US Dollar.
  * **SOL:** The native token of the Solana blockchain.
  * **\[MyCoin Name]:** Our native utility token, required for participation.
